Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing the MangaSendr web application ("Web App"), downloading or using the MangaSendr desktop application ("Desktop App"), or accessing any of our services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy, and our DMCA Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

By checking the agreement checkbox during account registration, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and the policies above. This affirmative consent is a condition of account creation.

2. Nature of the Service

MangaSendr is a user-directed file conversion and delivery utility. You upload a file you already have (a comic archive, EPUB, PDF, or folder of images). We convert it to a Kindle-optimized format and deliver it by email to the Kindle device you have registered, or, in the Desktop App, transfer it to your Kindle over USB.

MangaSendr does not host, catalog, curate, recommend, or endorse any content. The Service does not operate as a publisher, distributor, content aggregator, or content hosting platform. Every file processed by the Service is supplied by the user who uploads it, and every delivery is initiated by an explicit user action.

Files you upload are kept only while conversion and delivery need them: up to 1 hour if you never send them, and up to 24 hours after you send them. A scheduled job then deletes them. See Section 5 below for more detail.

3. License Grant

MangaSendr grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. A single subscription or lifetime purchase grants access to both the Web App and the Desktop App. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling you to use the Service as provided by MangaSendr, in the manner permitted by these Terms.

4. Restrictions on Use

You agree not to, and you will not permit others to:

  • License, sell, rent, lease, assign, distribute, transmit, host, outsource, disclose, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service.
  • Modify, make derivative works of, disassemble, decrypt, reverse compile, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notice (including any notice of copyright or trademark) of MangaSendr or its affiliates, partners, suppliers, or the licensors of the Service.
  • Use the Service to process, convert, or deliver any content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy or applicable law.

5. Your Content, Your Rights, Your Responsibility

You retain all rights to the files you upload. By uploading a file to MangaSendr, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license solely for the purpose of performing the conversion and delivery you requested. This license ends when the stored file is deleted.

You represent and warrant that, for every file you upload:

  • You are the rights-holder, or you have the necessary rights, licenses, consents, or permissions to upload, convert, and deliver the file as described in these Terms.
  • Your use of the Service does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • The file does not violate our Acceptable Use Policy or any applicable law.

Storage and deletion

We keep a file you upload only as long as the conversion and delivery you asked for need it:

  • Up to one (1) hour from upload, if you never send it. If you cancel the upload, we delete it right away.
  • Up to twenty-four (24) hours after you send it to your Kindle, so you can send it again without uploading it twice.

Once that window ends, a scheduled job deletes the file. Files converted for you to download are deleted from our server within minutes. Files you transfer to your Kindle over USB with the Desktop App never pass through our servers. We keep only a small cover thumbnail and minimal metadata (title, page count, conversion settings) so your library and delivery history stay readable.

You are solely responsible for the files you upload and for compliance with any laws, rules, or regulations applicable to those files, including but not limited to copyright law, intellectual property law, and the terms of service of any platform from which you obtained the file.

6. No Hosting, No Agency, No Facilitation

MangaSendr does not host, catalog, or distribute any manga, comic, book, or other copyrighted work. We do not condone, facilitate, or encourage the upload of content that infringes third-party rights. Our role is limited to performing the technical steps necessary to convert and deliver the specific file you uploaded, at your explicit request.

MangaSendr exercises no editorial control over, and has no prior knowledge of, the specific content a user chooses to upload. The Service does not create any principal-agent, publisher-distributor, or licensor-licensee relationship between MangaSendr and any rights-holder.

7. Copyright Policy

MangaSendr respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe a user has processed content through MangaSendr in a way that infringes your copyright, please see our DMCA Policy for how to file a takedown notice or counter-notification.

We maintain a repeat-infringer policy: accounts that are determined, in our sole discretion, to be used for systematic or repeated infringement of third-party copyrights may be terminated without notice and without refund.

8. Intellectual Property

The Software, including without limitation all copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and other intellectual property rights, is and shall remain the sole and exclusive property of MangaSendr. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your uploaded files to MangaSendr.

9. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Refunds

MangaSendr offers a free allowance, a one-time purchase ("Lifetime of v2.x"), and a monthly subscription. Both the one-time purchase and the subscription unlock unlimited deliveries (subject to Fair Use below) and full access to both the Web App and the Desktop App.

  • Free allowance: Every new account may send one (1) real delivery to its Kindle free of charge, in addition to the onboarding sample delivery and two (2) one-time free converter downloads that do not expire. No payment method is required. The free delivery is granted once per account and once per registered Kindle device across accounts: a Kindle address that has already received a free delivery, or that belongs to an account holding or having held a purchase or subscription, is not eligible for another. Accounts created before the introduction of this model retain any unused one-time deliveries granted at signup. Your account, devices, and delivery history are preserved regardless of purchase or subscription status.
  • One-Time Purchase (Lifetime of v2.x): A one-time payment (standard price US$29) grants a perpetual, non-transferable license to the version 2 product line of MangaSendr: every v2.x update (features and fixes), the Web App and the Desktop App, and hosted Kindle delivery, all subject to these Terms and the Fair Use clause below. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the v2.x product line. Major-version upgrades (v3 and later) may be offered as a separate purchase; v2.x remains functional and maintained per these Terms for as long as MangaSendr operates it. The purchase does not renew and carries no recurring charge.
  • Fair use: Hosted delivery is provided for personal use. Accounts may send up to 300 email deliveries per calendar month. We may throttle or contact accounts that consistently exceed this limit; we will never silently revoke access. Local features (conversion, USB transfer, watched folders) are not metered.
  • Subscriptions and billing: The monthly subscription is billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges at the selected interval until you cancel. Existing subscriptions, including yearly plans no longer offered to new customers, continue on their original price and terms until cancelled.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: The one-time purchase carries a fourteen (14) day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase; a full refund revokes the license and returns the account to the free allowance. Monthly subscriptions may be cancelled anytime with no refund for the current period. Contact support for refund requests.
  • Price protection: If the standard USD price of the Lifetime of v2.x license goes down within 90 days of your purchase, we automatically refund the difference, in the currency you paid. Lower prices in specific countries or currencies, promotional codes, pass upgrade credits, gift codes and licenses we give away don't count as a price decrease.
  • EU right of withdrawal: If you live in the European Union, the law normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Paid access to MangaSendr starts as soon as you complete checkout. At checkout you ask for access right away and confirm that you lose this 14-day withdrawal right once access starts. The 14-day money-back guarantee on the one-time purchase is separate and still applies.

10. Disclaimer of Warranty

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. MangaSendr explicitly disclaims all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted, that any particular file format or e-reader model will be supported, or that deliveries will always be successful.

11. Limitation of Liability and Indemnification

In no event shall MangaSendr be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages whatsoever arising out of the use of or inability to use the Service. In no event shall MangaSendr's aggregate liability to you exceed the total amount you paid to MangaSendr for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MangaSendr and its creators, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your use of the Service, including any file you upload, convert, or deliver through the Service.
  • Any alleged copyright or intellectual property infringement related to content you processed through the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, our DMCA Policy, or any applicable law or regulation.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services (for example, Amazon Send-to-Kindle email delivery, Stripe for payments, Supabase for authentication, AWS SES for email transport). You acknowledge and agree that MangaSendr is not responsible for the availability, behavior, or terms of such third-party services. Your use of those services is governed by the applicable third party's own terms.

13. Account Termination

MangaSendr may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without prior notice, for conduct that MangaSendr believes, in its sole discretion, violates these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or any applicable law, or is harmful to other users or third parties, or is harmful to MangaSendr.

Without limiting the foregoing, accounts that are found to be used for systematic or repeated copyright infringement may be terminated immediately without notice or refund.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 14.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Where applicable, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the European Union shall apply.

In the event of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting contact@mangasendr.com. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days, either party may pursue formal proceedings.

You agree that any claims relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved on an individual basis and shall not be brought as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect, either by email to the address associated with your account or by a notice in the Service. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may cancel any subscription at any time from your account settings (one-time purchases are covered by the refund terms in Section 9).

16. Your Account Information and Emails From Us

To run your account we store your email address, the Kindle devices and Kindle email addresses you add, your settings and your delivery history. Our Privacy Policy describes everything we collect, which service providers process it for us, and your rights.

When you create an account, the welcome screen asks three optional questions: where you heard about MangaSendr, what you will read on, and whether you have a manga file ready to send. Skipping them changes nothing about the Service. If you answer, we store your answers with your account and use them to understand how people find MangaSendr and what they read on.

We send the emails you need to use the Service, such as password resets, delivery confirmations and help with setting up after you sign up. Product updates and other marketing emails go only to people who opted in, and you can unsubscribe from them at any time.

In the first two weeks after you sign up, if your setup seems stuck, our system posts an internal alert to our private Discord server, which only we read. For example, you have not added a Kindle a day after signing up, your test pages have not been confirmed as arrived, or a day has passed since your free delivery without a purchase. The alert contains your account ID, your email address, the name and model of the Kindle devices you added, whether Amazon rejected our sender address for them, and your delivery counts. The developer may then send you a personal email offering help with your setup. These emails are written by hand, are only about your setup, and never contain prices, discount codes or offers. If you would rather not receive them, reply and tell us.
