What Amazon's Send to Kindle does for manga, and what it doesn't
Send to Kindle is Amazon's free way to put your own files on a Kindle, and it's how MangaSendr delivers too. On its own it takes EPUB and PDF but not CBZ, email stops at 50 MB, and pages arrive as they are in the file. MangaSendr prepares the file first, then sends it through Send to Kindle.
We make MangaSendr, so keep that in mind as you read. Amazon's limits and file types below come from its own help pages, linked at the bottom of this page.
The short answer
If your manga is already an EPUB made for your Kindle and it's under 200 MB, Send to Kindle is all you need. Upload it on Amazon's Send to Kindle website and it appears in your library. It's free, and it's run by the company that makes the Kindle.
If you have a CBZ, a large PDF, or a volume over 50 MB that you want to email, something has to convert, resize or split it first. That can be KCC or Calibre on a computer, or MangaSendr in a browser.
MangaSendr doesn't replace Send to Kindle. Its last step is a Send to Kindle email from delivery@mangasendr.com to your Kindle's address, with the same one-time approved-sender setting in your Amazon account.

When Send to Kindle on its own is the better pick
- Your file is already ready. An EPUB made for your Kindle, by KCC or by a publisher, under 200 MB, needs nothing else. Upload it on the Send to Kindle website.
- You're sending text. Novels, articles and documents are what Send to Kindle was built for.
- You send a file now and then. Converting it yourself with KCC, Calibre or MangaSendr's free converter, then uploading it to Amazon, costs nothing.
- You want only Amazon to handle your files. With Send to Kindle alone, the file goes from you to Amazon. MangaSendr adds a step: the file is uploaded to our server, converted, and deleted within 24 hours of sending.
- Your PDF already looks right. A PDF made for small screens and under 50 MB can go straight to your Kindle address by email.
When MangaSendr fits
- Your files are CBZ or ZIP. Send to Kindle doesn't take them. MangaSendr converts them to EPUB and sends them in one step.
- Your volumes are bigger than Amazon's limits. Bundle PDFs and high-resolution CBZs can run to hundreds of megabytes, and KCC's README mentions a 600 MB Humble Bundle volume. MangaSendr takes files up to 500 MB, sizes the pages down for your Kindle, and splits whatever is still too big for email into parts with their own covers.
- You want pages to fill the screen. Each page is trimmed of plain white borders and sized for your Kindle model, and the book turns right to left like printed manga.
- You send a series. Pick up to 50 files at once. They're sent in order, each with its cover, and named so the series sorts correctly.
- You're on your phone. Upload the CBZ in your phone's browser. There's nothing to convert first.
Using both
If you use MangaSendr, you already use Send to Kindle: every book arrives as a Send to Kindle email. Keep Amazon's website for files that are ready to read, and use MangaSendr for the ones that aren't.
To do it all yourself for free, convert a CBZ with the free converter (CBZ, ZIP or images up to 200 MB, 3 a day, no account), then upload the EPUB on the Send to Kindle website. The converter uses one standard 6-inch page size, so the pages won't be built for a larger Kindle.
Questions
Can I email a CBZ file to my Kindle?
No. CBZ and CBR aren't on Send to Kindle's list of supported files, which covers PDF, EPUB, common image formats, HTML, RTF and TXT. Convert the CBZ to EPUB first, then send it.
What are the Send to Kindle size limits?
By email, 50 MB in total and up to 25 attachments per message. On the Send to Kindle website, files up to 200 MB each. Both numbers come from Amazon's help pages, checked on October 8, 2026. Our file size guide covers how to get bigger volumes through.
Does MangaSendr replace Send to Kindle?
No, it uses it. MangaSendr emails each book to your Kindle's Send to Kindle address from delivery@mangasendr.com. Amazon then delivers it like any other document you send.
Do I have to change anything in my Amazon account?
Yes, once. Amazon only delivers documents from addresses on your Approved Personal Document Email List, which holds up to 15 addresses. MangaSendr shows you where to add delivery@mangasendr.com and sends a free 5-page test so you can check it worked.
Why not send the manga as a PDF?
You can, up to 50 MB by email or 200 MB on the website. The PDF arrives as it is: pages keep their print proportions and white margins, so the art sits smaller on the screen, and pages turn left to right. A fixed-layout EPUB sized for your Kindle fills the screen and can turn right to left.
What does MangaSendr cost?
Your first volume is free and you don't need a card. After your free volume, the license covers multi-file sending, splitting, automation and sending from any device, with delivery included. It's $29, paid once, with a 14-day money-back guarantee, or $4.99 a month. Pricing has the details.

Send one volume and compare for yourself
You don't need a card, and there's nothing to install. After your free volume it's $29 once, not per volume, and it doesn't renew.
