MangaSendr respects the intellectual property rights of others. This page describes how to file a takedown notice if you believe content was processed through our service in a way that infringes your copyright, and how to respond if you believe your own content was affected by mistake.
1. About MangaSendr and user uploads
MangaSendr is a file conversion and delivery service. Users upload files from their own devices, and we convert and deliver those files to the user's registered Kindle or let the user download the converted file. We do not host a catalog of content and we do not make user uploads available to other users.
We keep an uploaded file only as long as the conversion and delivery need it: up to 1 hour if the user uploads it and never sends it, and up to 24 hours after the user sends it, so they can send it again without uploading it twice. Once that window ends, a scheduled job deletes it. Files converted for the user to download are deleted from our server within minutes. We keep only a small cover thumbnail and minimal metadata (title, page count, conversion settings) for the user's delivery history.
A delivered file goes to the user's own Kindle library through Amazon's Send to Kindle service. We cannot access or remove files there.
Because of this, a valid takedown notice leads us to (a) delete any matching upload we still hold and cancel any queued delivery, and (b) enforce our Acceptable Use Policy against the responsible account.
2. How to file a takedown notice
If you are a copyright owner (or an agent authorized to act on one's behalf) and you believe that a MangaSendr user has processed your copyrighted work without authorization, please send a written notice to the contact in section 3. The notice must include all of the following (modeled on the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are covered.
- Enough information about the alleged infringement for us to find it. Because we do not host a public catalog, this usually means the MangaSendr account (email address or user ID) and when the file was uploaded or delivered.
- Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you: your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Incomplete notices may be rejected. Notices submitted in bad faith (including those you know to be materially inaccurate) may subject you to liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
3. Where to send notices
Send copyright notices by email to contact@mangasendr.com with "DMCA Notice" in the subject line. We acknowledge every notice and act on it promptly.
4. What we do when we receive a valid notice
- We acknowledge your notice within a reasonable time.
- If an upload we still hold matches the notice, we delete it and cancel any queued delivery.
- We tell the account holder responsible for the upload what we did and why, and forward a copy of your notice (without your contact details unless you indicate otherwise) so they may respond with a counter-notice if appropriate.
- We apply our repeat-infringer policy (Sections 7 and 13 of our Terms of Service) and our Acceptable Use Policy. Accounts associated with repeated or egregious infringement may be terminated without refund.
5. Counter-notification
If you are a MangaSendr user and you believe a file of yours was deleted or an action was taken against your account as the result of a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was deleted or disabled and where it appeared before (for example, the file name and the time of the upload or delivery).
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was deleted or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the district where your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which MangaSendr may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original takedown notice or an agent of that person.
Send counter-notifications to contact@mangasendr.com with the subject line "DMCA Counter-Notification".
When we receive a valid counter-notification, we send a copy to the person who filed the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action about it, we lift any restriction placed on your account because of that notice within 10 to 14 business days. A file that was deleted cannot be restored, but you can upload it again once the restriction is lifted.
6. Notices from the European Union
If you are in the European Union, you can also use contact@mangasendr.com to report a file you believe is illegal under EU or national law, including copyright infringement. Please include why you believe it is illegal, enough information for us to find it (as in section 2), your name and email address, and a statement that you believe in good faith that your notice is accurate and complete. We confirm receipt, tell you what we decided and why, and tell the account holder about any action we take and how to contest it.
7. Repeat infringer policy
In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable law, MangaSendr has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances and at its sole discretion, the accounts of users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. We may also, at our sole discretion, limit access to the service and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.
