Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

MangaSendr ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by MangaSendr. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, and our associated application.

2. Information we collect

We collect information to provide better services to all our users.

  • Personal information: Name, email address, payment information (processed by our payment providers).
  • Kindle email addresses: The Kindle email address(es) you provide for the purpose of delivering content to your devices.
  • Usage data: Information about how you use our application, including features used, time spent, and error logs (telemetry) to help us improve stability.
  • Device information: We may collect information about the device you use to access the Software, including the hardware model, operating system and version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Uploaded files: Manga files you upload (CBZ, ZIP, EPUB, PDF, or image files) are processed to produce an optimized EPUB for your Kindle. They are stored temporarily and deleted on the schedule in section 5.
  • Welcome questions: After you sign up, we ask three optional questions: where you heard about MangaSendr, what you will read on, and whether you have a manga file ready. If you answer, we store your answers with your account and record them in our product analytics (section 6). Skipping them changes nothing.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Software;
  • Process and deliver content to your Kindle device at your explicit request;
  • Convert uploaded manga files into Kindle-optimized EPUB format;
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our Software;
  • Understand and analyze how you use our Software;
  • Develop new products, services, features, and functionality;
  • Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes (where you have opted in);
  • Send you emails;
  • Find and prevent fraud.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We use the following service providers to run MangaSendr. Here is what each one does and what it receives:

  • Supabase: Your account. Supabase stores your email address, your sign-in details and your sign-in sessions, including your Google sign-in if you use one.
  • Stripe: Payments. Stripe receives your email address and your payment details. We never see your full card number.
  • Resend: Emails from us to you, such as onboarding emails and the product updates you opted in to. Resend receives your email address and the message.
  • Amazon Web Services (SES): Sends delivery emails to your Kindle. AWS receives your Kindle email address and the converted file attached to each delivery. If Amazon rejects a delivery, the bounce notice comes back to us through AWS.
  • Hostinger: Hosts the server that runs our API, our main database and file conversion. It holds your account settings, Kindle email addresses and delivery history, and stores uploaded files temporarily (see section 5).
  • Vercel: Hosts this website. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and browser details when you load a page.
  • PostHog (EU region): Product analytics, described in section 6. Visitors who are not signed in are counted without any identifier stored on their device.
  • Discord: Internal alerts that only we read, posted to a private Discord server when people sign up, send files, pay, use the desktop app or hit an error. These alerts can include your email address, your Kindle email address, the title of a file you sent and, for some events, your IP address. In the first two weeks after you sign up, if your setup seems stuck, an alert also lists the name and model of the Kindle devices you added and your delivery counts, so the developer can send you one personal email offering help. That email is written by hand and never contains prices or offers.

Several of these companies are based in the United States, so some of this data is processed outside the European Union. We use these providers only for the jobs listed above.

5. Uploaded file handling

When you upload a manga file (CBZ, ZIP, EPUB, PDF, or image files) to MangaSendr, it is processed on our servers to produce a Kindle-optimized EPUB and then delivered to your registered Kindle device via Amazon's Send-to-Kindle email service, or made available to you as a direct EPUB download.

We keep the file you uploaded only as long as the conversion and delivery need it: up to 1 hour if you upload a file and never send it, and up to 24 hours after you send it. Once that window ends, a scheduled job deletes it. Files prepared for you to download are deleted from our server within about 10 minutes. We keep only a small cover thumbnail and minimal metadata (title, page count, conversion settings) so your library and delivery history stay readable.

EPUB files you download from your library on the website include a short code derived from your account ID. It lets us trace a file back to the account that downloaded it if the file is shared publicly.

You are responsible for the content you upload. MangaSendr is a conversion and delivery tool for files you have the right to read; we do not host or distribute content.

6. Cookies and analytics

MangaSendr uses the following technologies to maintain your session and improve the Service:

  • Authentication cookies: Session cookies managed by Supabase to keep you signed in.
  • Analytics when you are not signed in: We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to count page views and see which features people use. PostHog does not set a cookie or store anything else on your device. Instead, the page keeps a temporary ID in memory, which is gone when you reload or close the tab, and no profile is created for you.
  • Analytics when you are signed in: Once you sign in or create an account, PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie and in local storage so we can link your activity to your account ID across visits, for example to check that the purchase screen works. When you create an account we also send PostHog your email address. Signing out removes the identifier from your device.
  • Local storage: We use browser local storage to remember application preferences and onboarding state. This stays on your device.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

7. Marketing communications

During account registration, you may choose to opt in to receive product update emails from MangaSendr. These emails are delivered via Resend and may include new feature announcements, tips, and product news.

Separately, you can sign up for DRM-free drops on our bundle guide, with or without an account. That list only gets emails about DRM-free manga and comics bundles worth knowing about. Signing up doesn't change your account's email preferences. We keep the address in Resend until you unsubscribe.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email, or by contacting us at contact@mangasendr.com. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional emails related to your account (e.g., password resets).

We do not share your email address with third-party advertisers or marketing platforms.

8. Data security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

9. Your data rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may also have the right to restrict processing, object to processing, and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email provided below.

If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can also complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

10. The desktop app and your files

The desktop app converts files on your computer. Your manga library, your files and your reading progress stay on your device. When you transfer a file to your Kindle over USB, the file goes straight to your Kindle and never passes through our servers. We only record the title and device name so the transfer shows up in your delivery history.

When you send a file to your Kindle by email, from the desktop app or the website, the file is uploaded to our server, converted if needed, and emailed to your Kindle through AWS. We keep it only for the time described in section 5 and then delete it.

The desktop app also reports activity such as app launches, sign-ins, deliveries and errors to our server, linked to your account, and these reports appear in our Discord alerts. You can turn this off with the "Share usage data" setting in the app. Crash and update-failure reports are still sent so we can keep the app working.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
